UNSA is a Peruvian public university located in Arequipa city, Peru. It was founded on November 11th of 1828, the second founded in the Peruvian Republican era and became the fifth oldest university in the country.

INSTITUTIONAL STRATEGY OBJECTIVES:


- Raise the professional training quality of our students and the skills quality of our university professors.
- Carry out and promote scientific, technological and humanistic research in the academic community.
- Strengthen the social extension and projection for the academic sector.
- Enhance institutional management.

The university campus is made up of three academic areas: Social, Engineering, and Biomedical, each one implemented with libraries, documentation centers, laboratories; an administrative area; a cultural and artistic expressions area; and academic services such as a Language Center, a University Institute of Sports, a Computer Center, and others.

It currently offers 245 academic programs (59 undergraduate programs, 75 masters, 20 doctorates, and 91 second specialties). UNSA has 31 lines of research that are associated with Concytec's National Transversal Science, Technology and Innovation Programs (CTI), and 10 lines of the Area of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. It is important to note that the university prioritizes the use of Canon Mining funds in basic and applied research projects. UNSA has about 34 facilities (7 for academic training and 27 for administrative, production, experimental and extracurricular activities), 18 investment projects in infrastructure, 171 laboratories, and 84 workshops. Among all this infrastructure that is available to its students and academic community, it is worth highlighting the UNSA Museum, the Sumbay Yanahuara Experimental Center, the Technological Research and Training Institute (INICITE), the Mineral Segregation and Foundry Laboratories, the TV UNSA Broadcast Center, the Pedro Paulet Geophysical Institute and Aerospace Astronomical Institute, the Teaching Hospital, a Seed Processing Plant, the Majes Experimental Center, the Hydrobiological Research and Development Institute, among others.

UNSA is among the nine Peruvian universities with the highest worldwide visibility with more than 290 works published in journals indexed in Scopus, according to the SCImago Ranking in the 2014 – 2018 quinquennium. In 2019 it received the ELSEVIER – CONCYTEC Award for having more than 600 scientific articles indexed during the period 2014 – 2018, in the Southern region of Peru. Currently, 165 basic and applied research projects are being developed. Nationwide, it is in second place in the INDECOPI (National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property) Ranking of patent applications, being the first as a Public University. Additionally, UNSA is among the five Peruvian universities with a license from SUNEDU (National Entity of Higher Education) for a maximum term of 10 years.

UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT FOR INNOVATION, DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER - UNSA


The University Department for Innovation, Development and Technology Transfer (DUIDTT) is a line body of the Office of the Vice President for Research.

It is in charge of promoting and managing relations and interactions between UNSA and society, in its different sectors, in the area of research and technological innovation.


Function :

    Promote, organize and manage Innovation Programs, Technological Development Programs and Agreements for technology transfer.

    Promote and manage relations between the UNSA and society, represented by companies, communities, scientific and cultural institutions, public or privates, and others in the area of science and technology, specifically through research agreements, provision of services and consultancies.

    Promote the periodic holding of scientific, technological and innovation events, as well as social and biomedical sciences.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT OFFICE - UNSA


The Entrepreneurship Development Office is an organic unit of the University Office for Production of Goods and Services line which is a support body for the Office of the President, in charge of conducting, guiding, controlling and evaluating the activities of the Centers and Units of Production of Goods and Services, in addition to promoting entrepreneurship at the University.


Function :


    Create and implement the Business Incubator System at UNSA to accelerate the process of creation, growth, innovation and consolidation of companies, based on the entrepreneurial capacities of students and graduates to interrelate university, State, company and society.

    Create support environments through catalyst programs, linking students and professors with research centres, research institutes and centres for the production of goods and services to encourage the culture of research, entrepreneurship and innovation according to the Fourth Axis: For Research of the UNSA Statute.

    Transform the results of research into ventures, forming strategic alliances with research centres, networks of incubators and strategic partners at the level of financing, market and know-how.

    Define potential entrepreneurial sectors and markets to address their problems based on a mapping of the companies needs that comprise them and the stakeholders.

    Generate support systems for entrepreneurial ideas through networking programs (mentor networks), financing (angel investors, risk investments and innovation funds).

    Promote entrepreneurship and innovation in UNSA undergraduate and graduate students.
