UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE TRUJILLO
The National University of Trujillo (UNT) has accompanied events in Trujillo since the beginnings of the Republican era. Its founders settled in our region to form the liberating army that would give the Independence of our beloved homeland.
The UNT, with 189 years of history, stands out for its extensive experience in the management of research with the financing of companies and other actors. It currently has 13 faculties with 45 undergraduate academic programs, in the Graduate School it has 86 master's degrees and 26 doctoral programs. We have a high quality of researchers, in the different branches of science, of which we have 110 researchers registered in CONCYTEC. The UNT is one of the twelve emblematic universities indicated in Law 30220, University Law.
The UNT has a main headquarters and two sub-branches. The main headquarters is located in the city of Trujillo, and its facilities are divided into 2 establishments: the university campus and the Local Central (administrative offices). The sub-branches are located in Sánchez Carrión Province (Huamachuco headquarters) and Pacasmayo Province (Jequetepeque headquarters).
The UNT Innovation and Technology Transfer Directorate was created in December 2017. Since then, it has actively contributed to the development of the La Libertad region. It's a founding member of CREEAS (Regional Committee for Business, State, Academy and Organized Civil Society), which is a union of goodwill that actively works for the development of the region, based on business innovation, founded in 2017. Since 2019, the UNT is part of the Regional Development Agency, a space led by the Regional Government, to promote the growth of the La Libertad region from development and social growth. Also in 2019, the UNT signed an agreement with INDECOPI (National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property), for the creation of CATI (Center for Technology and Innovation Support) at the UNT, in favor of innovation in the La Libertad region. This year, that agreement was renewed for a period of 3 years, and the next renewal will be automatic.
As most outstanding achievements, the UNT Business Incubator (IncubaUNT) won the Financing of the Fund "Strengthening Incubators and Related Entities" of Innóvate Peru, and has successfully incubated 18 ventures, of which 11 are successfully performing in the market has additionally trained more than 600 students, teachers in entrepreneurship and innovation methodologies. It also participated as part of the Hubs network of Telefónica Open Future in La Libertad. The UNT is part of the project “La Libertad Innova. Innovation and Entrepreneurship: engines of change”, which is a project for the Dinamization of Regional Ecosystems (DER) financed by Innovate Peru. The UNT participated from the formulation of the project, and currently has representatives in the technical team of the same. In 2020, the UNT ranks ninth among the universities with the most patent applications in all of Peru.

The UNT stands out for the high quality of professionals it forms, these famous people passed through its classrooms: César Vallejo, Antenor Orrego Espinoza, Víctor Raúl Haya De La Torre, Ciro Alegría Bazán and Luis de La Puente Uceda.

Roles of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Direction
The Innovation and Technology Transfer Direction comes from the Vice-Rector's Office for Research. This Directorate has 3 units: Business Incubator Unit, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Unit and Regional Innovation Ecosystems Unit.

His main functions are: To carry out the annual plan of the Directorate with the Heads of each unit, ensure compliance with the Directorate indicators and represent before the Vice President for Research.

- Eng. Heiner Ocupa Cabrera - Project Supervisor to Innóvate Peru.
His main functions are: Assisting startups in the formulation of their innovation projects to access competitive funds and supervising startups crediting innovation funds.
- Eng. Marcos Agurto Evangelista - Incubation Program Coordinator
His main functions are: Planning and executing the Business Incubation Programs, advising entrepreneurs on innovation and entrepreneurship. Manage resources for the Programs.
- Eng. Yon Huacanjulca Ávila - Pre-Incubation Program Coordinator
His main functions are: Planning and executing the Business Pre-Incubation Programs, advising teams on business models. Manage resources for the Programs.
- Lic. Juan Martín Sánchez Alvites - Marketing and Communications Coordinator
His main functions are: Planning and executing marketing strategies for the positioning of the INCUBAUNT brand, in the region and the country, managing the social networks of the Incubator and preparing advertising material for the activities of the different Incubator Programs.
